Dan Rollins

Dan Rollins - Carpenter
Dan Rollins is a carpenter from Ipswich. He has worked within the industry for many years now, mostly under PAYE, however the last year was the first year he has been paid under CIS.
Unsure of how to complete his Tax return, Dan contacted QuickRebates to see whether they could claim back any of the CIS Tax back from his earnings. He always felt that he was overpaying Tax compared to PAYE but was told there was nothing he could do until after the end of the Tax year.
QuickRebates pulled together all of the necessary information and prepared Dan’s Tax return on his behalf, whilst ensuring that all allowances and expenses were claimed for during the calculations.
This was a huge relief for Dan. Dealing with paperwork and Taxes wasn’t his strong point and knowing that his affairs was in professional hands gave him peace of mind. His repayment of £3,263 was received with good cheer. He used the money to treat his family to a well earned vacation in Spain.

The Construction Industry Scheme
Compared to PAYE, being contracted under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) can have it’s advantages but has disadvantages also. Whilst less Tax is generally paid as the individual can claim various expenses including motoring costs, there is more paperwork involved. HMRC require annual Tax returns for self-employed traders which can become complicated.
